0:00.0	I think this is one of those topics that if people understood the scale of the problem and the severity that we would be talking about this every day, along with, you know, immigration and foreign policy, this is, in my view, one of the most important things going on right now.

0:20.8	Let's just start with SSRI's antidepressants.
0:23.8	How widespread is their use in the United States? About 14% of the population.
0:29.6	Total population. Of the total population is currently taking an antidepressant medication.
0:34.9	Currently? Currently, yes. Yeah. And that was, that's actually as of 2014, the numbers have gone up since COVID.
0:42.2	So I would say it's probably between 15 to 20% of the population.
0:47.5	It's currently on those drugs.
0:49.6	Are taking antidepressants on a daily basis.
1:18.0	Okay. antidepressants on a daily basis. So that's, I mean, compared to my childhood or even 25 years ago, that's a massive increase.

1:28.9	It's likely, you know, last statistics I looked at, I think it's about a 500% increase from where things were in the 90s,
1:35.0	in the early 90s. Has America's collective mental health improved? No, there's actually more suicides, there's more disability from mental health problems, and teen suicide is higher as well.
1:41.3	Okay. So if there's been a 500% thereabouts increase in the use of these
1:47.2	drugs, but more people are killing themselves and the drugs are prescribed in order to
1:51.5	make you not kill yourself, then that suggests that like we're getting the opposite of the
1:59.3	intended effect?
2:02.3	Yeah, yeah, big time.
2:06.0	There's more psychiatric prescribers now.
2:10.7	There's more drug prescribing, and the outcomes are actually getting worse.
2:14.0	What we're doing is not working on a national level.
